THE UCI HAS MADE CYCLUNG SPORT PROMOTION’S PROJECT OFFICIAL Some are still racing but others are already celebrating at the World Championships in Ponferrada. This morning the International Cycling Union published its calendar for the next cycling season and Cycling Sport Promotion has been successful in its ambitious and challenging triple project. In 2015, in fact, Mario Minervino and his team have planned three important events. The last weekend in March they will host the Trofeo Binda, the only Italian date in the Elite Women's World Cup; it is the most anticipated race in the province of Varese at the start of the season, and is a fantastic stage for the best athletes in a challenge which involves tens of thousand of spectators every year. For two years now the race has been preceded by another competition for junior women. The athletes immediately baptised it the “Mini-World Cup”. And so, what was left to Cycling Sport Promotion but to propose an even more important event; an international race. UCI liked the idea and has given its approval. There are no international junior road races in the world, apart from the World Championships, so for Cittiglio, this is a real achievement. Then Mario Minervino's other project was also confirmed: the under 23 race planned for 26 July, which will count towards the Nations Cup for men under 23. For Mario Minervino, this is a return to his first love as he started his career organising amateur men's races. Here is the calendar for the events which will be organised by Cycling Sport Promotion in 2015: 29 march 2015 - trofeo Da Moreno – UCI women junior International 29 march 2015 - trofeo Binda Comune di Cittiglio – UCI woman road world cup 26 july 2015 - trofeo Almar – UCI men under 23 nation’s cup |
